OUR PRODUCTS

Monark™ combines textile industry science with agriculture knowledge to create innovative, environmentally friendly products that are harmless to animals.

We have enhanced different technologies* to meet the expanding needs of thermal insulation. Each is based on the use of vegetal fibre. Milkweed, which is extremely light, has proven to be a natural choice in delivering a truly ecological solution for a wide range of products.

01

FLEXIBLE CAVOLIÉ*

Monark Cavolié™ is a trademarked thermal insulation product created from milkweed fibre. It is extremely easy to work with, behaves like a synthetic material, and is equivalent to the best down in terms of warmth.

We offer Monark Cavolié™ in different surface masses (oz/yd²) to allow us to match physical activities with the appropriate level of insulation and maximum comfort.

APPLICATIONS
  • Coats
  • Mittens and Gloves
  • Sleeping Bags
  • Bedding

02

SEMI-RIGID CAVOLIÉ*

We developed Semi-Rigid Cavolié to meet the requirements of thermoforming (moulding), which is used in certain product types (ex: insulated boots). This technology compacts insulating fibres, while safeguarding their outstanding thermal capacity. Monark™ Fibres distinguish themselves above all other insulating fibres, due to their extremely light weight and non-compromising performance.

APPLICATIONS
  • Outdoor Boots
  • Everyday Boots
  • Ski Boots
  • Acoustic Insulation

03

RIGID CAVOLIÉ*

Monark Cavolié™ not only acquires the equivalent strength of other bio composite material when subjected to thermal compression, it also maintains its light weight and excellent thermal efficiency.

Our process allows Rigid Cavolié to adopt the shape of each client’s moulding.

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

Monark™ is part of a sustainable development initiative that introduces natural milkweed fibre to textile industry techniques, creating products that are innovative, environmentally friendly and harmless to animals, without affecting product performance.

SOCIAL ECONOMY
We contribute to the vitality of the agricultural sector by planting crops on hundreds of hectares and by using milkweed fibre in the manufacture of Monark™ products.
monark_icones-03
ECOLOGY
Milkweed, with its extensive root system, regenerates the soil and absorbs air-borne carbon into the ground, thereby reducing greenhouse gas production. Each ton of plant material collected prevents the emission of 2.2 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere or 12 tons per hectare.

All pollinators will take nectar from milkweed flowers if they have been cultivated without insecticide, relying instead on natural pollination for plant pod production.

Cultivating milkweed also helps preserve groundwater, as irrigation is not necessary.

SAFEGUARDING BUTTERFLIES
The monarch caterpillar, most popular and admired butterfly in America, feeds exclusively on milkweed. Milkweed fields provide ideal breeding grounds, especially as harvest occurs at the end of September, when monarchs fly south.

This North American symbol for ecological diversity is, nonetheless, threatened. A major reason for monarchs’ declining population is the eradication of milkweed, due to its lingering reputation as a weed.

Environmental groups, such as the David Suzuki Foundation, encourage citizens and North American governments to plant milkweed to help the monarch population survive. We support the “ButterflyWays” campaign of the Foundation.
